Abandoned Cart

A cart where a customer added items but left without buying; automated emails recover a meaningful share.

An abandoned cart is a shopping cart where a customer added products but left without completing the purchase. It is one of the most common leaks in online retail: on average, sixty to seventy-five percent of carts are abandoned.

Automated recovery email sequences, exit-intent offers and a simplified checkout recover a meaningful share of those sales. Because the customer already showed intent, abandoned-cart recovery is usually one of the highest-return activities an online store can run.
